This explicit tree appears to pull back with doubts about it's previous choice of direction.

This tree seems to be hindered by it's setting within a city planter in Crete.

This tree expresses an emotional state of unease, due to the fact that it is planted within a boundary.

The expression of the tree trunk takes on the fleshy appearance of facial features.

This female looking tree form exists in a state of struggle to overcome limits.

The tree is inhabited by a female that observes the presence of people that surround it.

The inner knowledge of our limited life is expressed through the visible ribcage

The bonsai tree is struggling to free itself by twisting away from the interior wall.

This bonsai seems to be experiencing a growth spurt as it reaches up to expand and blossom.

The tree form takes on a male attitude to engage the female, whose visage appears in the tree behind it.

The swirling forms activate the tree "torso" and limbs to yield a feeling of fantasy.

The twisted position of the figure expresses her frustration at being thwarted in her ambitions. This tree appears to be morphing into a pale voluptuous woman.

I was immediately attracted by the expression and gestures of this evocative tree I discovered in France.

The tree “face” seems to be observing the rhythmic moves of the dark “dancer.”

This female-looking old growth tree resembles a woman with a complex web of  fine branches.

“On My Back” personifies life’s setbacks to success, which must be overcome in order to forge happiness."

A metaphoric dancer seems to inhabit this gestural tree image that appears undecided as to i's direction.

The “mother” holds her baby high on her limb so it can see and communicate better this way.

This painting represents the strain in all relationships, no matter the love that exists.

This Irish tree displays distinct“child”forms which express our “inner child” in its need for comfort.

“Life Before Life” puts a face on the essential force that underlies all living forms.

These branches resemble horns emerging from what appears to be a curious young animals head.

This image expresses an unabashed firm approach in the face of all challenges and upsets.

This year I finally got a chance to express this mysterious interior heart-like shape. I painted the first “Outrage” piece after 911.  This piece is a stormy response to the 2016 presidential election.

These branches express an expansive effort to embrace the unexpected in life. This painting displays
a metaphoric“upside-down”view of Life’s more baffling situations.

I was struck by the look of a skull, embedded deeply within a hollow in the trunk of this tree from N.Vermont. This piece displays the eternal connection of the sexes, as man courts a woman who enjoys freedom. In this piece the “man” seems to squelch the "woman's" desire to speak her mind. This twisted tree-figure reaches metaphorically for “light,” for answers, for relief from the lifes tension.

This image displays the base of a tree dead within apparently in a fire, leaving a "grinning mouth" behind.

This sycamore image from Italy inspired me to paint trees whose limbs and gestures resemble humans. These branches are interdependent, just as many living things are connected and reliant on each other.

The “seated” position of this tree image suggests an Eygptian pharoah, on his thrown holding a sceptre.

These two images areinspired by 400 year old Italian sycamores that express human-like gestures.

This is a small scale replica of the larger painting entitled"Tree Woman" that stresses the female shape within.

As these forms and branches lean toward each other, they create the illusion of shapes swaying rhythmically.

"Moving On"suggests that the figure is in the process of taking leave of a place, or person, or a state of being.

“Horse Sense” is a contemplative image that signifies thoughtful reflection on life’s mysteries.

“Gold Horse Sense”refers to shrewdness and common sense, with it's elongated looking horse head.

This female form is captured unable to free herself from the binding limbs that keep her tied in her natural place.

"Harlem Mother and Child II" reflects the light effects of sunset, in a symbolic sign of the time when the tree is cut down.

This flesh-toned female tree torso seems to make the ultimate sacrifice in a resolute offering of self.

This magical painting combines two art forms; the the figure and the landscape genre.

This special golden work suggests three art forms; the figure, still life, and landscape.

These two figures frolick together though the “woman,” eager to fly freely is enmeshed with the male.

This Italian sycamore so resembles a female torso encased in peeling bark, situated on a tree stump.

There seems to be a
definite spirit that resides
within this tortured form
.

This tree manifestation of an upturned male seeming torso is a symbol of isolation in a topsy-turvy world.

This female tree figure achieves a sense of freedom while still anchored to her natural habitat, trunk, roots.

The motif for this piece is set in a row of very suggestive trees situated on the edge of McCarron Park in Brooklyn.

These two trees spend time together beyond their expectations.

Male and a female sycamore forms seem to soar heavenward in their quest for freedom in togetherness.

This group of camouflaged sycamores appears to be engaged in a surreptitious dialogue.

These two animal-like sycamore trees seem engaged together in a playful mood.

The exposed skelteton-like roots and boney tree trunk create the impression of a primitive animal.

When the woman’s magnetic
charm carries her point!

This female looking trunk is destined to be fettered by her limbs to the nature that both sustains and binds her.

A female figure is begging, but  a male companion seems nevertheless to be taking decisive steps away.

This piece symbolizes
lifes transitions as we move on to the next stage in life's sequence of events.

The androgynous central figure has breasts that double as eyes, but it also has a masculine aspect.

These male and femaleforms appear to be joined at the base of their flesh-toned trunks.

These enigmatic tree figures seem to be engaged in closely debated  possibly controversial dialogue.

“Bent Back” seems to join male and female forms, exposing the interior of the female.

This totem-tree from Central Park South has an especially female appearance.
